Check out this amazing 1948 Packard. It was parked on the streets of Portland. What an amazing car...

If It's Thursday June 24 It's iPhone Time

That would be iPhone 4 time. I was one of the ones who pre-ordered an iphone, actually two because the system was less than optimal, and could go to my local store and pick it up. Me and how many others? I just know that when the line finally separated into those with reservation and those without, I was in the line with a reservation and 150 back. After the store opened, I only waited an hour and 15 mintues to get one. Here's a rather quick snap of some poppies ...

Tram Sighting

At the end of the Portland Streetcar line you can board a tram and be swept up the hill to the main campus of Oregon Health Sciences University. I spent quite a bit of time there yesterday and today and saw any number of these tram cars making the journey.

Chickens in Portland

Chickens in Portland ... Yes, indeed there are definitely here in Portland. Hens only, sorry roosters but you'll have to live outside of the city limits. Here's a shot of Henrietta. Check back for more updates on her and her coop mates.

Dogs Wait in Portland

This dog has quite a plush place to wait outside of Emanon Cafe near the Portland Streetcar stop one block away at NW 18th and Lovejoy. He seems free to come and go from his bed so he must be a frequent customer.

Only in Portland

Well, maybe not only but certainly one of the few cities where you'll find a group practicing their work in an entryway for two restaurants, and other retail shops. Upon our return from Las Vegas we headed over to Hot Lips Pizza for a quick slice and this is what we found in the hallway between it and Laughing Planet...

Palms ~ Not in Portland

There may be a line of palms similar to this somewhere in Portland. However on Saturday, there wasn't this much sun so this isn't Portland. It's still Las Vegas, not downtown but North Las Vegas ~ the land of gated communities and strip malls.

Still Not Portland ~ North Las Vegas

Beautiful blue skies and nothing in sight. Serenity for the eyes...
Back in Portland late Sunday. In the meantime, enjoy the images here...

Not Portland ~ Two by Steve Wynn

Another Portland Hiatus for this blog... For the next few days, we'll be posting from the Wynn in Las Vegas, NV. This reflection is of the Encore shining on the Wynn.

Tale of Two Parks

Jamison Square

Tanner Springs

Take the Portland Streetcar and you'll go by these two parks in the Pearl District ~ Jamison Square and Tanner Springs. They both have a water feature. Jamison Square's fountain is a magnet for children people and the entire park is filled with activity. On the other hand, Tanner Springs offers an opportunity to enjoy the quiet of the pool of water, stretches of lawn to relax and read. Although Jamison Square generally has more people, Tanner Springs has its regulars and is also frequented by numerous people, just not as many. For all of the images from these parks, click here. World Cup ~ 2010

Today was a full one downtown today. There were walks, runs  and marching in the Rose Parade. People  were everywhere, including the rooftop in the parking structure diagonal from Directors' Park. For all of the images from today, click here.

Powell's Bookstore

I go by Powell's Books almost daily. Today I stood in the middle of Burnside and took this photo to use as part of a Flickr project. Later in the day Voice from the Couch, Django and I returned to buy some books on Istanbul. For all of the images from today, click here.

View from Tanner Springs Park

Stand near Tanner Springs Park at the corner of NW 10th and Northrup where the Portland Streetcar turns and heads west towards Good Samaritan Hospital and you'll see the Broadway Bridge. Today in the rain, the bridge was open and stayed open for sometime due to ongoing construction. It was quite a sight! Other images of "machinery" are here, ones from the NW 23rd Farmers Market here, and a grouping of umbrellas, people and "things" here.

Umbrella on Marshall

Umbrella on Marshall between the in and out bound streetcar lines. It was still wet enough to justify having the umbrella opened just not a torrential down pour. For all of the images from today including ones out on Hayden Island, click here.

Cafe Violetta at Jamison Square

The Cafe Violetta truck was at Jamison Square this afternoon. Sunny day and the square was popping with activity. For more photos of that and other events, click here. For photos with an orange theme, click here.

Buttons at Radish Underground

No matter how many buttons you may have, you'll undoubtedly never have a button to match the ones on your clothing. So what to do with all of those spare buttons? Radish Underground on SW 10th right on the Portland Streetcar line has come up with an imaginative solution. Sew them to the side of a deer. For all of the photos of the day, click here.

Saturday Sun ~ Forest Park Diversion

The Chihuahua Mafia demanded that we go to Forest Park today. Sunny weather, who knows when that will happen again? So instead of going along the streetcar line, the two dogs and I headed to Forest Park. We must thank Voice from the couch for driving us to Saltzmann Road. Here's a shot of Django at the end of the journey. The remainder of the hike photos are here and others from the day here. We finished 11 miles in just about four hours!

Voodoo Doughnuts

Yes, the world famous Voodoo Doughnuts was in the courtyard plaza area of the Portland Art Museum Friday morning. Yikes, they were giving away the goods to members of the museum staff as well as participants in the Open Source software conference. Great fun and happy tummies abounded...

Another Market ~ "near" the Portland Streetcar

Thursday was the first day of the Farmers Market at NW Savier and 23rd. For all of the photos of the day, click here.

Side Trip to the Willamette

Watch out for the water spray from this Portland Fire boat. I watched it raise its plume much like a peacock twice this afternoon. Quite lovely even for a gray day. For the rest of the photos from today, click here.

If It's Tuesday It Must be Portland

At least that what John the driver and builder of this vehicle would have said.
The details...
